Ile de Ré hotel – What to do on the Ile de Ré when it rains?

Even in case of rain, the Ile de Ré is full of nice places to discover and especially in the dry!

The Hotel Le Grand Large team has various activities to offer you in case of capricious weather (very rare on the Ile de Ré of course!).

If you want to learn more about donkey milk soap, stop at the soap factory located in Loix to take an educational tour. The team on site will explain all the secrets of this soap that smells so good! (note: no visit possible in winter).

If you are a wine lover, the island's winegrowers' cellar awaits you! Located in Bois Plage, discover the stages of vinification as well as the different methods used to create this wine that is so sweet on the palate.

The Ile de Ré between History and Nature

For nature lovers, stop off at the Maison du Fier museum in Portes en Ré. Young and old will have fun discovering the biodiversity island during a fun and instructive journey to meet all the animals and plants that live on our beautiful island.

The emblematic activity of the Ile de Ré is undoubtedly The whale lighthouse ! In case of gloomy weather, go to Saint Clément des Baleines to visit its museum. You will find a space describing the history of beaconing since the seventeenth century and the major missions carried out by the State for safety at sea.

Another interesting stopover that is worth the detour: the salt workers' cooperative! You will learn more about the salt marshes as well as the harvesting of salt. The place is also ideal for doing some shopping.

Other activities are available to you, whether indoors or outdoors, you will always find something to keep you busy on the Ile de Ré!
