The second day, after a hearty breakfast, head for the northern part of the island: in the morning, go to Loix to discover the magnificent salt marshes, do not hesitate to stop at the eco-museum of the salt marsh on the edge of the proud of Ars to discover the history of salt production. Loix is also known for its crafts (honey, donkey milk soap, etc.)
For lunch, what could be better than a terrace in the sun on the pretty little port of Ars-en-Ré, or if you like seafood: an oyster hut. Before leaving the village, take a detour to the magnificent bell tower with its black painted spire. Go up to the bell room, the breathtaking view of the proud of Ars is guaranteed!
To end the day, head to Saint Clément at the Phare des Baleines. From the top of the lighthouse, the view of the island and the ocean is impressive.
Then before returning, an immersion in nature is mandatory! Stroll along the nature reserve of Lilleau des Niges. You are likely to meet the birds inhabiting the marshes, which vary with the seasons and migrations. You can rent binoculars on site to better observe them.
