Lois en Re

Lois en Re

Fancy a "nature outing" on the Ile de Ré during your stay in the Hotel du Grand Large ?

We recommend the town of Loix en Ré. You will then set sail for an authentic stroll on the peninsula, dotted with natural riches and history. It will also be an opportunity to access a protected environment where it is good to recharge your batteries.

The discovery of the village can be done by many means such as walking, cycling, water sports (canoes, paddle, sailing) but also on horseback, using the charming little wooden footbridges typical of the village. Two cycle paths also allow access to this pretty town.

Indeed, the salt track linking Loix en Ré and La Couarde sur Mer will guide you throughout the salt marshes. You will then have an incredible chance to observe the diversity of wild fauna and flora through wild birds (the elegant avocet or the kestrel) but also specific plants (such as glasswort or black mustard) .

For children, there is even a “treasure hunt” course Terra Adventure through a downloadable application.

Loix en Ré offers you its secrets through the visit of its salt marshes and the cultivation of fleur de sel by the salt workers, ancestral know-how to discover through guided tours offered by the Ecomuseum of the village.

Also discover local craftsmanship, passing by "l'Abeille de Ré" and its sweet honey, then " Laws and Soaps » and its care products.

This picturesque little village will take you on a journey, especially when arriving at the tip of Grouin, where a small beach with clear water, calm and supervised in summer will present itself to you, a real haven of peace! The whole overlooked by the Fort du Grouin.

After a great “nature and discovery” day in Loix en Ré, return to the Hotel du Grand Large and enjoy our jacuzzi and our heated swimming pool.
