Rivedoux-beach
Rivedoux-Plage is the first of the 10 villages on the Île de Ré, located at the entrance to the island just after the 3km bridge. A unique point of view bordered by the Pertuis Breton and the Pertuis d'Antioche, facing La Rochelle.
You have just crossed the Île de Ré bridge and you discover the tip of Sablanceaux which takes shape on your arrival: two long strips of fine sand border the two sides of the village. The smallest town on the Île de Ré has just over 2 inhabitants for an area of 300 km².
To the north, a large bay and a white sand beach faces the Vendée coast, to the south-east, a large white sand beach faces La Rochelle and the Ile d'Aix. Continuing a few hundred meters after this last southeast coast towards the Pointe de Chauveau, you reach small cliffs where the traces of old fish locks can be seen at low tide.
North side, we cross the village, calm and family, along the promenade of the port, along the flowered alleys, until reaching the oyster beds aligned in the pertuis Breton.
On the other side, on the south coast, Rivedoux-Plage invites you to relax with two kilometers of white sand beach or to practice water sports. Kitesurfing and windsurfing are popular on both sides of Rivedoux.

Rivedoux-Plage was originally a small fishing port and the tip of Sablanceaux an immense tongue of sand in perpetual evolution.
This village becomes in the XVIIrd century a strategic point of defense of the Île de Ré.
Former village dependent on Sainte-Marie-de-Ré, Rivedoux-Plage became a commune on February 28, 1928. Historically, Rivedoux was the first oyster-farming village on the Île de Ré and the first holiday resort before the bridge was built in 1988 and the village becomes a more residential commune.
Discover the history and heritage of Rivedoux through the Redoute built by Vauban in 1674, the tide mill, the fountain, the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes church and the Chauveau lighthouse with its 30 meters high, built under the reign of Louis XIV and the only lighthouse at sea in Charente-Maritime, which dominates the foreshore of the south beach of Rivedoux.
The small fishing port of Rivedoux-Plage and the oyster bay are nestled at the end of the east coast of the Île de Ré, bordered by the pertuis Breton, they face the coast of the bay of Aiguillon. A stone's throw from the shops and the market, a beautiful jetty invites you to take a walk, go fishing or fishing.
In the small port, some locations are reserved for passing boaters.
From the port, the oyster farms can be seen at low tide. Rivedoux is a mecca for oyster farming.
Shore fishing is practiced in Rivedoux, at low tide during high tides (minimum coefficient of 80) in rocky and sandy areas. The tourist information offices distribute guides on good fishing practices on foot and rulers for measuring shellfish and crustaceans.
